The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) awarded a $41,869,414 Formula Grant to the Central Puget Sound Regional Transit Authority, doing business as Sound Transit, to support the construction of the Downtown Redmond Link Extension project. This project will add two new light rail stations in southeast Redmond, serving Marymoor Village near Marymoor Park and the downtown residential and retail core. In addition, the grant will fund a new 1,400-space parking garage at the Southeast Redmond Station, as well as bicycle and pedestrian improvements.

The project, supported by the FTA's Federal Transit Formula Grants program (CFDA 20.507), is expected to provide 3.4 miles of new light rail service, reducing travel times between downtown Redmond, Westlake, and Bellevue. The expanded light rail system is projected to serve 43,000-52,000 daily riders by 2026, improving mobility and access to major commercial and employment centers across the Puget Sound region.
