The Department of Education Office of Elementary and Secondary Education awarded the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) a $316,568 Formula Grant under the Title I State Agency Program for Neglected and Delinquent Children and Youth (CFDA 84.013). The grant funding will be used to provide instructional materials, professional development, and other resources to support the educational needs of neglected and delinquent students in Illinois.
Specifically, ISBE will utilize the grant funds to equip instructional staff with intervention kits, a universal screening tool, and related professional development to address reading and literacy needs of at-risk students. ISBE will collaborate with the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice as a sub-grantee to deliver these services within juvenile corrections facilities across the state.
