The Idaho State Board of Education received a $5,429,507 formula grant award from the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Elementary and Secondary Education under the Migrant Education State Grant Program (CFDA 84.011). The grant aims to ensure that migratory children in Idaho have the opportunity to meet the same challenging state academic standards as other students. Through sub-awards ranging from $100 to over $1 million each, the State Board of Education will fund supplemental education services and support programs for migrant children delivered by 30 local educational agencies across the state. Sub-awardees include school districts and individual schools that will provide academic instruction, remedial education, dropout prevention activities, and other services designed to help migratory students overcome educational disruption, cultural and language barriers, social isolation, various health-related problems, and other factors inhibiting their ability to do well in school and transitions between school systems. This funding supports the mission of the Migrant Education Program to help migratory children overcome educational barriers until September 30, 2022.
