The Department of Housing and Urban Development Public and Indian Housing Office awarded $249,990 to the Housing Authority of the City of DuBois on September 18, 2025, under the Public Housing Capital Fund (CFDA 14.872) to fund safety and security emergency capital improvements in DuBois, Pennsylvania. The award funds capital and management activities to address safety and security emergencies at public housing developments that could not be absorbed within the authority's annual capital fund grant, including measures to address crime and drug-related activity. The funding is part of HUD's emergency and non-presidentially declared natural disaster set-aside program, through which approximately 2,770 public housing agencies serving nearly one million units nationwide are eligible to apply on a lottery basis. The maximum grant award amount under this set-aside is $250,000. Awards are based on proposed cost estimates, unit counts identified in proposals, and descriptions of identified safety and security emergencies. Recipients are limited to one safety and security grant application per federal fiscal year and cannot receive duplicate funding for the same development. The period of performance runs through September 17, 2027. All work must comply with 2 CFR 200 Uniform Administrative Requirements, and expenditures are limited to activities specified in the authority's five-year action plan or HUD-approved emergency work.
