The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) awarded a $260,000,000 Project Grant under the National Infrastructure Investments (CFDA 20.933) program to the Northeast Illinois Railroad Co, doing business as Metra Metropolitan Rail, to make improvements to the Metra UP-N commuter rail line. The grant will fund the replacement of 11 bridges and rehabilitation of the Addison Street bridge along a 2-mile corridor between Addison Street and Fullerton Avenue in Chicago, Illinois. The project aims to improve the state of good repair, transit speeds and reliability, and safety for riders on the UP-N line, as well as benefit users of the streets under and adjacent to the rail corridor. The grant award date is August 9, 2024, with an ultimate completion date of September 30, 2032.
