The Department of Health, American Samoa Department of Health Division, has been awarded a $686,570 Formula Grant by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) under the Special Education-Grants for Infants and Families program (CFDA 84.181). This grant, effective July 1, 2024 through September 30, 2025, will enable the department to implement and maintain a comprehensive early intervention system that provides critical developmental services for infants and toddlers with disabilities aged birth to three years in American Samoa. The grant supports a wide range of services, including developmental screenings, assessments, individualized family service plans, specialized instruction, therapies, assistive technology, and family support services, to enhance child development and minimize potential disability impacts for this vulnerable population.
