The Department of Education Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services awarded a $4,728,150 Formula Grant titled "Special Education-Grants for Infants and Families" (CFDA 84.181) to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. This grant provides funding to implement and maintain a comprehensive, coordinated, multidisciplinary, interagency system to deliver early intervention services to infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families in Kansas. The state agency has contracted with 14 local lead/fiscal agencies across Kansas to ensure eligible children birth through age two and their families can access early intervention services under Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). These sub-grantees include school districts, non-profit organizations, and an education service center that provide assessments, therapies, service coordination, and other developmental supports to address the needs of infants and toddlers with disabilities in local communities.
