The Department of Education Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services awarded an $82.25 million formula grant to the Nebraska Department of Education under the Special Education Grants to States program (CFDA 84.027) for the period of July 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022. This program provides funding to assist states in providing special education and related services to children with disabilities. Through subawards, the funding supports various special education services and programs across Nebraska including the Nebraska Autism Spectrum Disorder Network, Project Para, regional autism support, transition support projects, and the Peak Project. Subawards were also provided to all Nebraska educational service units and several individual school districts to support special education services and programs at the local level, including for children with disabilities, preschool grants, and coordinated early intervening services.
