About this award
The U.S. Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service awarded the State of Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife a $250,000 formula grant under the Sport Fish Restoration program (CFDA 15.605) on August 15, 2025, with a completion date of September 30, 2027. The grant funds the removal and replacement of deteriorated boarding docks at the Turner Day Use Area on Willow Creek Reservoir in Heppner, Oregon. The existing dock infrastructure, which has exceeded 37 years in service, presents significant safety hazards and is no longer suitable for providing recreational boating access. The project will eliminate the unsafe docks and install new facilities to safely facilitate launching and temporary tie-up operations for recreational watercraft.
Through a sub-award agreement dated December 16, 2025, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will pass Sport Fish Restoration funds to the Willow Creek Park District to execute the dock replacement project at Turner Day Use Park. This infrastructure improvement aligns with the Sport Fish Restoration program's mandate to provide public access to aquatic recreational resources and maintain viable sport fishery environments across the United States.
Description
