About this award

The U.S. Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service awarded the State of Utah, Division of Wildlife Resources $106,666.67 under the Enhanced Hunter Education and Safety Program (CFDA 15.626) for the period of July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026. This formula grant provides partial funding for the operation and management of Utah's Hunter Education Outreach and Shooting Sports Programs, which aim to introduce new participants to shooting and hunting while providing skill enhancement opportunities for experienced hunters and supporting the reactivation of past participants.

The funded program administers planning, conducting, and supporting a variety of local, regional, and state-level events designed to increase interest and participation in hunting, trapping, and shooting sports activities. Program administration encompasses hunter education course delivery, shooting sports programming, and outreach initiatives that reflect Utah's commitment to maintaining hunting as a long-standing tradition and important part of the state's heritage. This award is consistent with the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act framework, which supports hunter education and safety infrastructure across state wildlife agencies nationwide.
