About this award

This $300,000 Formula Grant awarded on April 11, 2025 by the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) Fish and Wildlife Service Region 2 under the Sport Fish Restoration program (CFDA 15.605) will support the Arizona Department of Game and Fish (AZGFD) in developing Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) for seven high-hazard and significant-hazard dams located in populated areas of Arizona. The EAPs will help local emergency managers prepare for potential catastrophic events associated with these dams, which create recreational boating facilities and access that are required to continue operating under state regulations. The grant funding will cover the development of EAPs for Parker Canyon Dam, Peña Blanca Dam, Cluff Ranch Pond #3 Dam, Roper Lake Dam, Arivaca Dam, Big Lake Dam, and Lee Valley Dam, enabling advanced planning to ensure the safety of downstream residents in the event of a dam-related emergency.
