The U.S. Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service awarded a $181,088 Formula Grant under the State Wildlife Grants (CFDA 15.634) program to the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission. The purpose of this 3-year project is to combine distributional surveys, habitat assessments, and molecular approaches to understand environmental controls on the distributions, genetic diversity, and phylogenetic status of three species of winter stoneflies: Isoperla szczytkoi, Zealeuctra wachita, and Leuctra paleo. The University of Arkansas will be a sub-recipient, providing specialized expertise in distributional surveys, habitat assessments, and molecular analyses to support the broader conservation objectives of the project.
