The Department of Housing and Urban Development's Public and Indian Housing Office awarded $140,579 in formula grant funding to Mobile Housing Authority on January 1, 2026, under the Public Housing Operating Fund (CFDA 14.850) program.
Mobile Housing Authority will use the operating subsidy to fund day-to-day operational expenses for public housing, including property management, routine and preventative maintenance, anti-crime and security activities, energy costs, resident supportive services, insurance, and administrative implementation costs required under the U.S. Housing Act of 1937. The award supports operations for public housing units serving the Mobile, Alabama area.
Performance runs through December 31, 2032. The Public Housing Operating Fund provides operating subsidies to housing authorities nationwide to assist in maintaining services and providing minimum operating reserves for public housing residents; the program serves approximately 1.59 million residents across 902,436 households, with 44 percent elderly and 35 percent families with children.
