The Pala Band of Mission Indians received a $125,633 formula grant award from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Training, Investigations, and Special Purpose Activities of Federally-Recognized Indian Tribes Consistent With the Clean Air Act (CAA), Tribal Sovereignty and the Protection and Management of Air Quality program. The objective of this one-year project ending September 30, 2022 is to help build the Tribe's capacity to assess air quality conditions and develop strategies to address issues. The Tribe will conduct strategic planning, compliance assistance, air emissions monitoring, rulemaking, and other activities to improve and maintain air quality on tribal lands. This funding will support the Tribe's efforts to understand, assess, and characterize local air quality conditions to protect public health and the environment.
