FUNDS CARRY OUT PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES NEEDED FOR PUBLIC WATER SYSTEMS TO COMPLY WITH THE SAFE DRINKING WATER ACT, PROGRAMS TO PROVIDE HOUSEHOLD WATER QUALITY TESTING, AND ACTIVITIES FOR A STATE TO RESPOND TO A DRINKING WATER CONTAMINANT. ACTIVITIES INCLUDE IMPROVEMENTS OF WATER SYSTEMS' INFRASTRUCTURE, INSTALLING OR REPLACING TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION MAINS TO PREVENT WATER LOSS, AND UPGRADING OR REHABILITATING TREATMENT/DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM COMPONENTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PUMPING/STORAGE FACILITIES NEEDED TO ASSIST DRINKING WATER SYSTEMS.
