This $958,000 Formula Grant from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 2 under the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Small and Underserved Communities Emerging Contaminants Grant Program (CFDA 66.442) was awarded to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) to assist small and disadvantaged communities in New Jersey comply with the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA).
The grant funds will be used by NJDEP to implement projects and activities needed for public water systems to comply with the SDWA, including upgrading distribution systems, evaluating treatment needs, connecting to municipal water supplies, and increasing technical, managerial, and financial capacity of drinking water systems. The intended beneficiaries are residents of Mantua Township and Manchester Township. Anticipated outcomes include improved water utility efficiency and infrastructure, reduced SDWA violations, and enhanced water quality awareness for system owners, operators, and consumers.
