The Environmental Protection Agency Region 2 awarded the Government of the Virgin Islands a $4.95 million Construction Grants for Wastewater Treatment Works formula grant to fund stormwater and sewer infrastructure projects through September 2028. Under the grant, the Department of Planning & Natural Resources will carry out repairs, replacements, rehabilitation and upgrades to sewer interceptors, force mains and pump stations across the U.S. Virgin Islands. Subawards will support public wastewater treatment construction projects identified in the territory's Project Priority List and Intended Use Plan, including sewage treatment plants, pumping stations, collection and intercept sewers, and rehabilitation of sewage and stormwater systems. The grant-funded infrastructure improvements are intended to establish and manage an effective water pollution control program and improve water quality and public health for U.S. Virgin Islands residents.
