About this award

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration awarded the Minnesota Department of Public Safety $237,840.21 under the Section 405(d) Impaired Driving Countermeasures Grant program (CFDA 20.616, National Priority Safety Programs) on October 1, 2025. The award funds impaired driving countermeasures consistent with 23 C.F.R. 1300.23(j), including costs associated with state impaired driving countermeasures programs, adoption and enforcement of mandatory alcohol-ignition interlock laws, and 24/7 sobriety programs. Minnesota qualified for funding by meeting statutory requirements for impaired driving countermeasures as a mid-range or high-range state under the statutory apportionment formula. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Fiscal and Administrative Services Division administers the award and distributes funds based on an approved triennial highway safety plan and annual grant application that identify problem areas, performance measures, and countermeasure strategies designed to reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities. The period of performance runs from October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2029, with place of performance in St. Paul, Minnesota. As the state highway safety administering agency, the division acts as pass-through entity for sub-awards to local law enforcement, county governments, and community partners implementing impaired driving reduction initiatives statewide. Federal share is reimbursed on vouchers submitted by the state covering incurred costs.
