About this award
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration awarded the New Mexico Department of Transportation $303,978.82 on October 1, 2025, under the Section 405(g) Nonmotorized Safety Grant program (CFDA 20.616, National Priority Safety Programs).
The award funds programs to decrease nonmotorized road user fatalities involving motor vehicles on trafficways. The recipient will implement countermeasure strategies identified in an approved triennial highway safety plan and annual grant application to reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities resulting from motor vehicle crashes involving pedestrians and cyclists.
The period of performance runs from October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2029. Work is performed in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The funding is apportioned using the statutory formula established under 23 U.S.C. § 405(g) and 23 C.F.R. § 1300.26. Federal reimbursement is provided on claims submitted in vouchers covering costs incurred. The award is classified as a formula grant distributed to the state highway safety office based on an approved highway safety plan and annual grant application.
