About this award

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration awarded the Minnesota Department of Public Safety $1,070,593.69 on October 1, 2025, under the Section 405(c) State Traffic Safety Information System Improvements Grant to support improvements in the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, uniformity, accessibility, or integration of core highway safety databases.

The award funds work at the Minnesota Department of Public Safety's Fiscal and Administrative Services Division in St. Paul, Minnesota, with performance through September 30, 2029. Minnesota qualifies for this funding through its Traffic Records Coordinating Committee, designated TRCC Coordinator, and approved State Traffic Records Strategic Plan. The Fiscal and Administrative Services Division administers the award as a pass-through entity distributing formula grant funding for highway safety activities across Minnesota state and local systems, including sub-awards to local law enforcement, county governments, and community partners. The division's federal grant portfolio emphasizes grant administration and fiscal oversight rather than direct service delivery; it holds no procurement vehicles and operates under direct federal formula grants and reimbursement-based funding mechanisms. Federal share is reimbursed on claims submitted in vouchers covering incurred costs through the Electronic Transfer of Funds method. Project records must be retained for three years following submission of final expenditure reports and resolution of any audit findings.
