About this award

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety will receive $3.96 million in formula grant funding from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's State and Community Highway Safety Grant program (CFDA 20.600) over a four-year period from October 2021 through September 2025.

The funding will support the department's Commercial Transportation Enforcement Division in administering the state's highway safety initiatives. As the designated State Highway Safety Office, the division will implement programs to reduce traffic crashes, deaths, and injuries on all public roads with a focus on commercial motor vehicles. This may include enforcement of state traffic safety laws, as well as education and awareness campaigns to promote seatbelt use, reduce impaired and distracted driving, and encourage other safe driving behaviors among all road users in Mississippi.
