The Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Community Living awarded $188,180 to Mid-Minnesota Legal Assistance on October 1, 2025, under the Voting Access for Individuals with Disabilities—Grants for Protection and Advocacy Systems program (CFDA 93.618).
Mid-Minnesota Legal Assistance will ensure full participation in the electoral process for individuals with disabilities throughout Minnesota by providing education, training, and assistance to voters with disabilities; conducting advocacy and education around Help America Vote Act (HAVA) implementation; training election officials, poll workers, and election volunteers on the rights of voters with disabilities and best practices for working with this population; assisting individuals with disabilities in filing complaints under state-based administrative grievance procedures and representing them in related hearings; advising states and governmental entities on polling place physical accessibility; and obtaining and disseminating training and technical assistance on voting issues, including accessible voting equipment and systems.
The award period runs from October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2030, with performance taking place in Minnesota.
