Under this grant, the FSM Department of Health and Social Affairs will deliver evidence-based prevention education addressing abstinence and contraception to reduce teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, and HIV/AIDS among vulnerable populations, including youth in foster care, juvenile justice systems, victims of human trafficking, and homeless or runaway youth. The program incorporates instruction on at least three of six adulthood preparation topics—healthy relationships, adolescent development, financial literacy, parent-child communication, educational and career success, and healthy life skills—to support successful transitions to adulthood. All funded services must be medically accurate, age-appropriate, and culturally responsive to the island communities served.
