This $509,146.80 Formula Grant award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service supports the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP, CFDA 10.558) in the state of Georgia. The program provides funding to the Georgia Department of Early Care & Learning, doing business as Bright From The Start, to deliver nutritious meals and snacks to children and elderly or impaired adults enrolled in nonresidential day care facilities and afterschool care programs across the state. The grant, with a performance period from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2026, enables Bright From The Start to distribute sub-awards to local school districts, nonprofits, and day care providers to implement these meal services and nutrition education initiatives at the community level. The program aims to improve nutritional quality, promote healthy eating habits, and ensure access to proper nutrition for vulnerable populations in Georgia.
