This $275,588 Formula Grant award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Child Nutrition Division (CFDA 10.558 - Child and Adult Care Food Program) provides funding to the Georgia Department of Early Care & Learning, doing business as Bright From The Start, to initiate and maintain nonprofit food service programs for children and elderly or impaired adults enrolled in nonresidential day care facilities, as well as children attending afterschool care programs in Georgia. The grant enables Bright From The Start to deliver nutritious meals and snacks, provide meal reimbursements for providers, offer nutrition education, and conduct oversight activities to improve the nutritional quality of meals served and promote healthy eating habits among participants. As the designated state lead agency, Bright From The Start may sub-award portions of this funding to local school districts, nonprofits, tribal organizations, and day care providers for direct implementation of the food services.
