DESCRIPTION:THE ALASKA NATIVE TRIBAL HEALTH CONSORTIUM WILL CONTINUE TO HELP ALASKA TRIBES DEVELOP THEIR AIR QUALITY MANAGEMENT CAPABILITIES AND PROGRAMS THROUGH AIR QUALITY TECHNICAL SUPPORT, CAPACITY BUILDING, CONDUCTING ASSESSMENTS, AND ADMINISTERING SUB-AWARDS FOR AIR QUALITY PROJECTS DEVELOPED COLLABORATIVELY WITH ALASKA TRIBES FOR THEIR COMMUNITIES. THESE ACTIVITIES WILL BENEFIT AND PROTECT PUBLIC HEALTH AND AIR QUALITY IN ALASKA NATIVE VILLAGES.ACTIVITIES:ANTHC WILL ASSIST TRIBES AND TRIBAL COMMUNITIES IN BUILDING CAPACITY TO SUSTAINABLY AND EFFECTIVELY ADDRESS LOCAL SOURCES OF AIR POLLUTION IN COLLABORATION WITH KEY PARTNERS TO PROTECT PUBLIC HEALTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT. ANTHC WILL RAISE TRIBAL-COMMUNITY AND SERVICE PROVIDER AWARENESS OF HOW INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS CAN TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR MITIGATING LOCAL SOURCES OF AIR POLLUTION AND PROTECT THE HEALTH THEIR FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES.SUBRECIPIENT:ANTHC PROVIDES SUBAWARDS TO ASSIST TRIBES AND TRIBAL COMMUNITIES IN BUILDING CAPACITY TO SUSTAINABLY AND EFFECTIVELY ADDRESS LOCAL SOURCES OF AIR POLLUTION IN COLLABORATION WITH KEY PARTNERS TO PROTECT PUBLIC HEALTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT. ANTHC PROVIDES 4 SUBAWARDS OF $10K PER YEAR TO RECIPIENTS. ANTHC MANAGES THE SUBAWARDS AND PROVIDES TECHNICAL SUPPORT TO RECIPIENTS. OUTCOMES:ANTHC AGREES TO SUBMIT BIANNUAL PROGRESS/PERFORMANCE REPORTS. THE REPORTS WILL DESCRIBE PROGRESS ON COMPLETION OF WORK PLAN COMMITMENTS, PROVIDE A DISCUSSION OF THE WORK PERFORMED FOR ALL WORK PLAN COMPONENTS, AND INCLUDE A DISCUSSION OF ANY EXISTING OR POTENTIAL PROBLEM AREAS WHICH COULD AFFECT PROJECT COMPLETION AND WHAT MEASURES WILL BE TAKEN TO ADDRESS OR CORRECT THE IDENTIFIED PROBLEM. YEARLY OUTCOMES INCLUDE: 4 TRIBES IN ALASKA WILL COMPLETE AIR QUALITY PROJECTS; EACH PROJECT WILL PROVIDE TRIBES WITH EXPANDED CAPACITY, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, AND POINTS OF REFERENCE ON ALASKA-SPECIFIC TRIBAL AIR QUALITY TOPICS; COLLABORATIVE PROJECTS WITH ANTHC SUPPORT WILL INCREASE THE NUMBER OF TRIBES THAT HAVE SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTED AIR QUALITY PROJECTS IN ALASKA EACH YEAR; REPORTS, TOOLS, AND MATERIALS CREATED WILL BE AVAILABLE AS A RESOURCE TO TRIBES AND EPA ON THE ANTHC TRIBAL AIR QUALITY WEBPAGE; AIR QUALITY DATA COLLECTED BY TRIBES WILL BE QUALITY ASSURED; AND AIR QUALITY EXPERTISE WILL GROW AMONG ALASKA NATIVE ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH WORKERS.
