The Pueblo of Taos received $318,634 in federal funding from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 6 under the Performance Partnership Grants program (CFDA 66.605) for the period October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026. This formula grant provides capacity-building assistance to enable the Pueblo to establish and strengthen its environmental program administration on tribal lands. The award emphasizes water quality protection and monitoring of the Rio Pueblo de Taos and associated waterbodies through multiple deliverables: development of a Pueblo-specific watershed-based plan; photo monitoring of nonpoint source projects; water quality monitoring and assessment; completion of water quality standards revision; Clean Water Act Section 401 and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit review and certification; nonpoint source management plan updates; and nutrient model selection for pollution source identification. Deliverables include quarterly progress reports, annual federal financial reports, quality management and quality assurance project plans, a tribal assessment report analyzing collected water quality data, and data uploads to the EPA's Water Quality Exchange Database for interagency and public sharing. No sub-awards are included in this assistance agreement.
