Colorado State University's Sponsored Programs Division received a $1,629,061 cooperative agreement awarded September 22, 2025, by the Department of Defense (through ENDIST Alaska) to support land rehabilitation and maintenance activities at Pohakuloa Training Area in Hawaii. The award, funded under the Conservation and Rehabilitation of Natural Resources on Military Installations program (CFDA 12.005), authorizes Colorado State University to deliver specialized environmental management and technical services that protect natural resources on the military installation while supporting operational training requirements. The cooperative agreement extends through September 21, 2026, and leverages the university's substantial expertise in natural resource management, ecosystem restoration, and environmental stewardship on Department of Defense installations.

The Sikes Act-authorized program structure enables Colorado State University to execute integrated natural resources management activities, which may include habitat restoration, land maintenance, invasive species management, and ecosystem assessment services. As a recognized leader in federal natural resources contracting, Colorado State University's Sponsored Programs Division brings extensive capacity in field research, technical analysis, and project implementation across military installations. The award represents the university's continued role as a trusted non-federal partner delivering critical conservation and rehabilitation services that enhance both environmental protection and military mission readiness.
