About this award
The Royal Institute of International Affairs (RIA) was awarded a $434,583 cooperative agreement by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation under the Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) program. The award will support RIA's delivery of export control and border security assistance to Morocco from June 2021 through December 2022.
As part of its mission, the EXBS program works to enhance partners' strategic trade control systems and secure borders against illicit trafficking. RIA will likely provide training, workshops and expertise exchanges with Moroccan officials to strengthen export controls and related customs enforcement capabilities. The training may cover licensing, interdiction techniques, and international standards and best practices. Border security efforts could involve risk management, screening technologies, and cooperation across agencies. The award to RIA advances the EXBS program's goals by building Morocco's capacity in this important nonproliferation domain.
