The Department of State Bureau of Counterterrorism awarded a $4,937,500 cooperative agreement to the International Organization for Migration under the Global Counterterrorism Programs federal grant program (CFDA 19.701) from September 2022 through September 2024.

The award will support ongoing efforts to enhance the capacity of immigration actors and other key law enforcement stakeholders in Somalia through training, upgrading of migrant facilities, and installation of MIDAS systems at selected ports of entry. The Global Counterterrorism Programs aim to build partner law enforcement capabilities to prevent, disrupt, investigate and prosecute terrorism while strengthening civilian government and civil society counterterrorism efforts worldwide. Under this cooperative agreement, the International Organization for Migration will deliver training and technical assistance to Somali authorities working at ports of entry to strengthen border security and counterterrorism coordination.
