Description

Voyageurs national park requires information on pollinator presence in up to six areas of the park to inform how their wetland area management actions (treatments like manual cutting removal, prescribed burns, tilling) could influence pollinator conservation. The parks need species presence information and plant-insect interaction data for BEE species and butterfly species of conservation interest. This project will develop a sampling method for these species to collect and summarize presence data. Pollinator community composition and floral resource use will be generated for treated and UN-treated areas. Cooperators will use data collected in this project and a general literature review to provide park-specific information about plant species that support BEE communities within wetland restoration areas. Beneficiaries include state and local governments, federally recognized indian tribal governments, public private nonprofit organizations, nonprofit institutions of higher education, and the general public.
