THIS PROJECT ENGAGES YOUTH IN PROTECTING AND RESTORING PUBLIC LANDS THROUGH THE RESTORATION AND REPLACEMENT OF A WILDLIFE FRIENDLY FENCE LINE ALONG VARIOUS PARK LOCATIONS. PARTICIPANTS WILL ACCOMPLISH MEANINGFUL WORK AND GAIN IMPORTANT PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS WHILE BUILDING A LIFELINE CONNECTION TO THE OUTDOORS. PARTICIPANTS WILL GAIN TRAINING AND EDUCATION IN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT ACTIVITIES THAT HELP TO PROTECT RESOURCES AND IMPROVE VISITOR EXPERIENCES.PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE TRAINING AND EDUCATION FOCUSED ON NATURAL RESOURCE AND WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT PRACTICES AND TECHNIQUES THROUGH CLEARING AND BRUSHING ALONG FENCE LINES, PUTTING UP FENCE, STRINGING BARBED WIRE, SETTING POSTS, REPAIRING REPLACING SEVERELY DAMAGED FENCE SECTIONS, AND CONSTRUCTING WILDLIFE CROSSINGS. WORK WILL TAKE PLACE AS WEATHER PERMITS. FENCE REPAIRS AND REPLACEMENT WILL BE BUILT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MONUMENT S 2015 FENCE MANUAL SOP. THIS CLEARING WILL BE DONE WITH HAND TOOLS AND POWER TOOLS (CHAINSAWS AND RECIPROCATING SAWS) TO CLEAR LARGE TREES AND BRANCHES. FENCE SUPPLIES (BARBED WIRE, FENCING STAYS, CEDAR POSTS, T POSTS AND ALL FENCING TOOLS) WILL BE HAULED BY TRAILER TRUCK TO DESIGNATED PROJECT WORK AREA. ANOTHER OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT IS TO PROVIDE A RANGE OF EXPERIENCES AND TRAINING THAT PROMOTES PUBLIC RESOURCE STEWARDSHIP AND MOTIVATES PARTICIPANTS TO BECOME INVOLVED IN NATURAL RESOURCE PROTECTION AND MANAGEMENT. THIS WORK WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE PROTECTION OF SENSITIVE RESOURCES AND PROMOTE CONSERVATION EDUCATION.THIS AGREEMENT WILL ENGAGE YOUNG ADULTS IN PUBLIC LAND MANAGEMENT AND THE CONSERVATION OF NATURAL AREAS IMPORTANT TO OUR NATIONS HERITAGE. THE ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED AS PART OF THIS AGREEMENT WILL PROVIDE YOUTH CORPS MEMBERS WITH VALUABLE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCES IN THE CONCEPTS AND PRACTICES OF PUBLIC LAND MANAGEMENT. THEIR WORK WILL PROVIDE FOR THE PUBLIC ENJOYMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES IN A NATIONAL MONUMENT. THE PROJECT MOTIVATES ITS YOUTH PARTICIPANTS TO BECOME INVOLVED IN THE NATURAL, CULTURAL AND OR HISTORICAL RESOURCE PROTECTION OF THEIR COMMUNITIES AND BEYOND. PARTICIPANTS GAIN HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE OUTSIDE OF THE CLASSROOM IN NATURAL AND CULTURAL RESOURCE PROJECTS.
