THIS PROJECT SEEKS TO PROVIDE SCIENTIFICALLY-BASED INFORMATION ON THE NATURE AND STATUS OF SELECTED BIOLOGICAL, PHYSICAL, AND CULTURAL RESOURCES AT RAINBOW BRIDGE NATIONAL MONUMENT. THE RECIPIENT WILL ASSIST WITH TECHNICAL STUDIES TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THE LANDSCAPE HISTORY AND CURRENT CONDITIONS OF THIS SITE. THROUGH THIS PROJECT UNIVERSITY STUDENTS WILL COLLABORATE WITH NPS THROUGH PARTICIPATING IN NATURAL RESOURCES RESEARCH.THIS PROJECT WILL RESULT IN STUDIES OF RAINBOW BRIDGE TO UNDERSTAND CURRENT THREATS, COMPLETE PHOTOGRAMMETRY DOCUMENTATION OF RAINBOW BRIDGE AS BASELINE DATA AND TO BE AVAILABLE FOR FUTURE MODELLING AND FOR CREATION OF A 3D MODEL, AND COMPLETE DATING OF THE TERRACES AROUND RAINBOW BRIDGE TO UNDERSTAND THE FORMATION OF THE BRIDGE. BY PARTICIPATING IN THE PROJECT, UNIVERSITY STUDENTS WILL LEARN AND DEVELOP TECHNICAL SKILLS IN GEOPHYSICS, AND WILL LEARN ABOUT CURRENT THREATS TO NATURAL RESOURCES. THE PROJECT FULFILLS THE PUBLIC PURPOSE OF ENGAGING UNIVERSITY STUDENTS AND PARTNERS IN A TECHNICAL RESEARCH PROJECT THAT IS EXPECTED TO PROVIDE INFORMATION TO THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY. RESEARCHERS INVOLVED WILL GAIN NEW KNOWLEDGE THROUGH PROJECT ACTIVITIES. RESULTS FROM RESEARCH WILL CONTRIBUTE TO OUR KNOWLEDGE OF THE HISTORY AND CURRENT CONDITIONS OF RAINBOW BRIDGE NATIONAL MONUMENT. INFORMATION FROM THIS PROJECT WILL BE SHARED THROUGH A VARIETY OF STRATEGIES TO INCREASE PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE OF RAINBOW BRIDGE NATIONAL MONUMENT.
