Description

Public health crisis response application - the health emergency preparedness and response administration (hepra) helps execute the D.C. Department of health (DC health) mission to promote and build a disaster-resilient district that empowers and protects residents and visitors by coordinating public health/ healthcare preparedness, response and recovery activities. DC health seeks approval for CDC-RFA-TP22- 2201 emergency funds in order to surge its capabilities when a crisis strikes. This emergency funding will enable the DC health - in synchronization with key emergency support function #8 partners - to enhance the district's overall ability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from public health and healthcare emergencies/ incidents. With current HVA priorities in mind, DC health has identified specific focus areas to improve readiness for public health emergency preparedness investments in personnel, training, and community partnerships, in order to overcome potential hindrances to executing ESF#8 responsibilities in the response. If approved, this funding reinforcement will: 1. Strengthen incident management early for early crisis response; 2. Strengthen community resilience; 3. Strengthen information management; 4. Strengthen countermeasures and mitigation; 5. Strengthen surge management; and 6. Strengthen biosurveillance approval for inclusion in this CDC cooperative agreement will enhance DC health's overall phep program. The application demonstrates alignment to six domain strategies and includes many outcomes/outputs - some requiring synchronization with this department's HPP program - and further alignment to two of the DC health director's five strategic priorities: strengthen public-private partnerships and implement data driven and outcome-oriented approaches to program and policy development.
