Description
Improving adolescent health and well-being through school-based surveillance in connecticut - through funding available through this cooperative agreement, the connecticut department of public health (DPH) will implement and sustain a school-based health surveillance system and maintain weighted data for the school health profiles and the youth risk behavior survey. The department of public health has the organizational capacity required to implement the strategies and activities to achieve a successful youth risk behavior survey and school health profiles. Supporting our organizational capacity are strong collaborations internal and external to our agency. With the use of data possible through the school health profiles and youth risk behavior survey, state school health and public health programs can develop evidence-based prevention efforts for youth who are at-risk for poor health. Outcomes expected include the successful administration of the youth risk behavior survey in 2025, 2027 and 2029, as well as successful administration of the school health profiles during 2026 and 2028. Surveillance data from these two surveys will be released to stakeholders and the public, and the information will be used to assist in planning and improvement of multiple school health and public health programs.
