Description
Oregon core state injury prevention program (core sipp) - basic: the OHA, PHD, ivpp proposes initiatives to enhance specific protective factors: community resilience, safe and healthy environments, connectedness, and healthy social norms. In addition to the required focus on aces, TBI and TS, IT proposes a project of local significance using 18.5% the base budget to expansion of our surveillance capacity for older adult falls, adult TBI and alcohol as an unintentional injury risk factor. Mid-term outcomes- increased: 1) ability to identify and respond to emerging injury threats; 2) capacity to strengthen communities by increasing protective factors for injuries using best available evidence; 3) capacity to strengthen communities by reducing risk factors for injuries using best available evidence; 4) sustained injury prevention public health actions supported by best available evidence; 5) systems and organizational capacity for engaging communities that are disproportionately affected by risk factors, and 2) capacity to link datasets for providing context and information around srpf for unintentional falls, transportation, and TBI injuries. Long-term outcomes- reduced and sustained 1) injury morbidity and mortality associated with aces, TS, and TBI; and 2) risk factors for aces, TS and TBI; increased and sustained protective factors for aces, TS and TBI; and 3) sustained advancement and improvement in injury prevention practices and outcomes. Enhanced: evaluation will build upon the limited evaluation currently underway of ivpp?s CDC 2020 core svipp-funded mini-grant initiative. Ivpp will partner with grant recipient organizations to CO-design, implement, and publish a robust evaluation of the outcomes of a low-barrier, community-informed lgbtq+ mini-grant project that supported social cohesion and individual resilience during covid-19. An EHR information study will explore feasibility and utility of a new data source?sogi data in medicaid health plan data systems?to identify the impact of injury and violence in oregon?s lgbtq+ population and inform future provision of evidence-based mitigation interventions through health systems. A surveillance system capacity building project will identify gaps in current information sources, survey questions, and survey methodology related to sogi variables in public health surveillance systems, conduct an environmental scan to identify resources for improvement, and produce recommendations for improvement. Short-term outcomes: increased: 1) ability to describe the role of CDC 2020 core svipp covid-19 supplemental funding in supporting implementation efforts (the lgbtq+ mini-grant project); 2) ability to systematically apply evaluation principles and methods, 3) utilization of evaluation results; 4) understanding of the project?s effect on system and/or behavior change; 5) sustainable, reciprocal and multi-sector partnerships to address injury prevention among disproportionately affected populations; 6) increased use of novel analytic data science methods (using health system data on sogi variables, enhancing survey system capacity) to advance understanding of injury in disproportionately affected populations (lgbtq+ oregonians) within the context of statewide injury burden mid-term outcomes: 1) increased recipient ability to show contributions of intervention(s) on intermediate and long-term outcomes; 2) strengthen the evidence base for injury prevention; 3) increased recipient ability to appropriately adapt implementation practices to align with local contexts; 4) increased systems and organizational capacity for engaging communities that are disproportionately affected by risk factors; 5) contribute innovative surveillance methods to advance injury epidemiology; 6) improved understanding of the impact of prevention on injury incidence; 7) increased capacity of oregon's injury surveillance system to identify srpf, aces, and injury outcomes among disproportionately affected populations
