About this award

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration awarded the University of Oklahoma a $299,093 Cooperative Agreement on June 1, 2026, under the Broad Agency Announcement (CFDA 11.015) to develop and pilot a collaborative model integrating weather, operational, and social data across the weather enterprise.

The project will conduct a structured, hands-on exercise to identify and evaluate strategies for connecting these data streams and demonstrate their value in real-world, decision-relevant contexts. Deliverables include improved forecasts, warnings, and decision-making support that enables more timely, informed, and effective responses to hazardous events. The work advances NOAA's Weather-Ready Nation priority by improving how environmental information is integrated and applied to support preparation and response to hazardous weather, water, and climate events. The project also supports transparent, well-documented, and reproducible data integration and analysis consistent with federal science standards.

The University of Oklahoma, operating through its Office of Research Administration, is the recipient. Place of performance is Norman, Oklahoma. The period of performance runs from June 1, 2026, through May 31, 2028.
