About this award

The Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management Idaho Region awarded High Country Resource Conservation & Development a $350,000 cooperative agreement effective January 22, 2026, through January 21, 2031, under the BLM Fuels Management and Community Fire Assistance Program Activities (CFDA 15.228).

HCRCD works with communities and landowners to address wildfire resiliency on federal and private lands in Southeast Idaho through six coordinated subprojects. The work encompasses mechanical treatments, vegetation management, defensible space improvements, and community engagement across multiple project areas. Projects affect approximately 350 homes in and adjacent to Pocatello, ten acres near Menan Buttes, 100 acres per year in Sand Creek Desert Rangeland, 500 acres along Highway 22 from Dubois to the junction with State Highway 33, and 60 acres of wildfire burn scars along Highway 33. The geographic scope spans Pocatello, Menan Buttes, Sand Creek Desert Rangeland, Lemhi County, Butte-Clark-West Jefferson County, Dubois, and Highway 33 between Snake River and Sage Junction.

The federal grant program supports strategic investments in vegetation management to reduce the intensity and severity of wildfire through coordination, hazardous fuels reduction, and education of landowners and public land users on wildfire prevention and mitigation. Work occurs in Idaho.
