The U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Wyoming Region awarded a $137,500 Cooperative Agreement to the Game & Fish Commission Wyoming on September 30, 2025, for conifer treatments under the Good Neighbor Authority (GNA) program (CFDA 15.015). The award extends through September 30, 2030, and funds forest and rangeland restoration activities on BLM-managed lands in Wyoming. Under the GNA program, the Commission will deliver restoration services that may include hazardous fuels reduction through mechanical treatment of conifer-infected or disease-susceptible trees, prescribed fire preparation, and related forest health improvements designed to reduce wildfire risk and enhance ecosystem resilience.
The Game & Fish Commission Wyoming, a state government entity with extensive experience in federal wildlife and natural resource management, is well-positioned to execute this restoration work, having received 95 percent of its recent federal awards as a prime recipient across 333 cooperative agreements and formula grants. The conifer treatments align with the Commission's demonstrated capability in habitat restoration and natural resource management, supporting BLM's objectives to expand federal restoration capacity through government-to-government partnerships across state and federal lands.
