About this award
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Wyoming Region awarded a $140,000 Cooperative Agreement to Johnson County Weed & Pest under the Good Neighbor Authority (GNA) program (CFDA 15.015) effective September 30, 2025, through September 29, 2030. Johnson County will implement an integrated pest management strategy focused on invasive species and noxious weed control across BLM-managed lands and high-vector areas within Johnson County, Wyoming. Deliverables include the treatment and control of specific invasive species—including leafy spurge, county-declared noxious weeds, invasive annual grasses to support fire mitigation, and grasshoppers at population thresholds—measured in projected acres controlled on BLM lands.
The program leverages partnerships with the BLM, Forest Service, and State Lands to build a comprehensive and sustainable invasive species management approach. Additional program activities include the Johnson County Weed Bounty Program to encourage youth and community participation in noxious weed control efforts. The intended beneficiaries are U.S. citizens and Johnson County residents, with the awardee relying on collaborative relationships and available resources to execute the work efficiently while addressing the persistent threat of invasive species across the region.
