GNA containment prevent spreading of noxious weeds and pests spray with herbicide

County of Platte, doing business as Platte County Weed & Pest, received a $138,000 cooperative agreement from the Bureau of Land Management's Good Neighbor Authority (GNA) program (CFDA 15.015), effective September 30, 2025 through June 30, 2030. Under this award, the county will provide noxious weed and pest containment services through targeted herbicide spraying on federal lands within Platte County, Wyoming. This work supports the GNA program's mandate to expand federal capacity for ecosystem restoration and natural resource management by facilitating partnerships between the federal government and local entities.

The cooperative agreement represents a multi-year commitment to landscape-level invasive species management across federal lands in the Wyoming region. As a child awardee with established experience performing weed control and pest management services for federal agencies, particularly the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, County of Platte will deliver critical ecological maintenance services that prevent the spread of noxious weeds and manage pest populations. Funding will be distributed on a year-by-year basis contingent upon annual performance evaluation by the BLM State Director, consistent with standard GNA program requirements for five-year cooperative agreements.
