Description
The goals are to monitor space use and movements, identify impediments or barriers to movement that can be targeted by management agencies for remediation, and assess habitat use patterns to determine habitat utilization, identify important seasonal ranges, including fawning areas, and identify areas to inform permitting and siting of renewable energy developments and infrastructure on BLM-managed lands. This project will also record the pattern of occurrence of other key species in the target study areas. The specific objectives for this initial project are to:1) estimate home range utilization patterns and movement characteristics of pronghorn across the study area to identify anthropogenic and natural determinants of pronghorn movement 2). Evaluate movement trajectories of pronghorn to identify impediments to pronghorn movements 3). Assess seasonal habitat selection of pronghorn to determine if animals are displaying an avoidance of particular areas or anthropogenic features activities 4). Assess seasonal habitat selection to identify seasonally important areas for pronghorn, including fawning areas 5). Assist the bureau of land management and other cooperators with the development of potential mitigation strategies to address impediments to pronghorn movements, increasing landscape connectivity AND6) provide BLM with maps of seasonal pronghorn habitat use and patterns of occurrence of other key species that can be used to inform future and current planning for renewable energy facilities and infrastructure.
