Description

The goal of our study is to investigate the habitat use and behavior of BAT species of conservation concern(i.e., species within the genus myotis and perimyotis), with a particular focus on how bats respond to variousforestry management practices implemented to minimize stand-replacing wildfires. Specifically, this studywill fill critical gaps in our knowledge of how bats respond to western forestry practices (i.e., type and timesince treatment), climate driven wildfire intensity, range expansion of species, aid in population recoveryplanning, allow for the development of regulatory mechanisms and mitigation strategies to promote speciespersistence, and permit the establishment of management alternatives that conserve, maintain, and improvecritical habitat for numerous BAT species.
