Description

Identify possible limiting factors that may be contributing to population declines of greater sage-grouse population in the brothers priority areas of conservation (PAC) using GPS-satellite transmitters. Using that knowledge, identify sage-grouse source and sink habitat areas at the life stage found to be limiting to population growth rate. Observations made in the brothers PAC will be compared to the paulina PAC. Identifying limiting factors to population growth as well as areas on the landscape that are less productive will help prioritize and guide management efforts for local land managers. This assessment of sage-grouse populations in brothers and paulina priority areas of conservation is intended to be carried out hierarchically by: 1) quantifying sage-grouse population-level responses at local and landscape scales 2) assessing linkages and habitat connectivity via sage-grouse movement data and 3) evaluating predator communities as they relate to reproductive success.
