Description

In 2017, the BLM, the international mountain bike association (imba) and alaska trails held the 1ST alaska mountain bike summit in anchorage to engage key stakeholders and educate trail builders and users about the BLM imba publication guidelines for a quality trail experience (gqte). This past year, in response to the continuing increase of mountain biking in our communities, chugach mountain bike riders, in collaboration with alaska trails and the BLM, spearheaded the effort to host a 2ND alaska mountain bike summit in the mat-SU. This year the purpose was not only to bring key mountain biking stakeholders together for a weekend, but to also develop a lasting alaska mountain bike alliance which will provide a mechanism for statewide communication and collaboration between clubs, businesses, and land managers.
