Description
The BLM little snake field office is responsible for the management of 1.3 million acres of public land innorthwest colorado, including the locally treasured emerald mountain special recreation management area.routt county riders has partnered with the BLM for the past several decades to provide the local communitywith stewardship opportunities and to assist the BLM with volunteer resources and additional maintenance ofthe emerald mountain srma (among other areas on the BLM lsfo register). The relationship is a longstandingone between RCR and the BLM lsfo, as RCR is able to mobilize resources quickly from a vantagepoint relatively closer to the emerald mountain srma in steamboat springs, and to synergize maintenanceand upkeep efforts between the BLM and the municipally-managed trail system that overlaps from the opposite(north) side of emerald mountain. BLM grant funds are being requested to support the continuation of thisvaluable and much-needed partnership and solidify the next 5 years of stewardship on BLM lsfo multi-usetrails by members of our local cycling.
