About this award

The City of North Las Vegas will extend its multi-use Beltway Trail from Decatur Boulevard to North 5th Street under a $5.9 million cooperative agreement awarded by the U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management Nevada Region. The project will construct approximately 4.5 miles of asphalt trail with lighting, interpretive signage, wayfinding signage, regulatory signage, benches and landscaping with native drought-tolerant plants. This trail extension represents the first component of a regional trail system to be developed within the city. The trail will follow the Bruce Woodbury Beltway east, providing views of the surrounding Sheep Mountains, and include educational signage about the local landscape. Upon completion by December 2027, the urban trail will serve both commuter and recreational needs by promoting active transportation options like walking and bicycling. Funding is provided through the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act program, which supports community-based conservation partnerships across public lands in the region.
