The Regents of the University of Colorado, through the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES), will continue hosting the United States Geological Survey (USGS) North Central Climate Adaptation Science Center (NC CASC) under a $1,392,437 Cooperative Agreement funded by the USGS National and Regional Climate Adaptation Science Centers (CFDA 15.820) program. Over the 5-year project, the University of Colorado consortium with partner universities, non-profits, and tribal organizations will advance climate adaptation science to benefit natural and cultural resource management in the North Central region. Key activities include developing new climate, ecological, and social science applications; strengthening regional collaborations; building capacity through early career opportunities; and enhancing communication and science translation efforts. Deliverables include climate adaptation tool workshops, integration of traditional ecological knowledge, and production of actionable science to support culturally-appropriate resource management. Subawards to consortium partners will leverage their unique regional capabilities.
