Description
Project titlemissouri EDH meremacgasconade saltcuivre phase 2 202324PROJECT PERIOD08 15 2024 07 31 2026PROJECT abstract summaryaccurate spatial data is critical in planning for and responding to natural disasters like drought and floods which are common occurrences in missouri. Federal and state agencies rely on the same geospatial datasets for a variety of uses and applications and therefore have a similar vested interest in having good information to serve the public. The missouri governors 2020 flood recovery advisory working group report identified the need for state agencies to provide leadership in implementing improvements to flood protection infrastructure and management of major river systems. As such multiple agencies must coordinate and contribute funds towards flood recovery programs and strategies. Missouris geospatial hydrography and wetland data is part of the digital framework that is essential for these programs and strategies to be successful. The missouri department of conservation is proposing a multiagency effort over the next five years to update missouris digital riverine and wetland data to be better prepared for future disasters and aid in natural resource planning and delivery. Worrk began last year FY23 by focusing in southcentral missouri. This proposal is phase 2 of this longterm effort.
