About this award

This $323,478 Cooperative Agreement was awarded by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) under the National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program (CFDA 15.810) to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP). The funding will support the completion of several geologic mapping projects in New Jersey over a 2-year period from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2025. Key deliverables include:

  • Geologic maps for two 7.5-minute quadrangles in New Jersey
  • A karst susceptibility map for one 7.5-minute quadrangle
  • A bibliography of bedrock-surface elevation and surficial thickness maps for New Jersey
  • GEMS Level 3 compliant GIS datasets for three previously published 7.5-minute geologic quadrangle maps

The intended beneficiaries of this work include land-use and water-resource managers, engineering and environmental consultants, geologic-resource and geologic-hazard professionals, educators, and the general public. All map products and GIS datasets will be made freely available on the NJGWS website. No subrecipient activities were indicated in the award details provided.
